AB 1234 Ethics Certificates

AB 1234 requires that if a local agency provides any type of compensation, salary, or stipend to, or reimburses the expenses of a member of its 'legislative body' (as that term is defined in California Government Code Section 54952), that local agency's officials must receive training in ethics.

When local agency officials receive the training, they will be given proof of participation. Copies of these certificates must be provided to the agency’s custodian of records and maintained as public records subject to disclosure to the media, the public and others for at least 5 years.
