McNie release

From its incorporation in 2008, to record growth propelling the City to become the seventh fastest growing municipality in California, Menifee has seen a lot of change over the last decade. The City’s Building Official and Code Enforcement Director Colin McNie, has been a key component of the City’s smart growth in recent years and is marking the end of the 2019 with his retirement from the City of Menifee.

McNie“Colin has been such a valuable asset for the City of Menifee since I began and long before that,” said City Manager, Armando Villa. “It is difficult to give him a proper job title because he has been a driving force behind so much of our success in the City. He has set an indelible mark here with his relentless work ethic, myriad skills and leadership. We wish him nothing but the best in his retirement, because he has most certainly earned it.”

McNie has been with the City of Menifee since 2012 and has played key roles in many critical projects, including the transition to the new City Hall facility, the improvements for the new Menifee Police Department headquarters at the old City Hall location, and all key city facility projects. He has led the City’s Code Enforcement Department, in addition to the Building and Safety Department, ensuring that municipal codes are followed and enforced, building permits issued and inspections completed efficiently and to the current required building codes, especially during the years of experienced record growth in both residential and commercial development in the City. Before McNie started in Menifee, he held a similar executive leadership roles for the City of Hemet for a number of years during their periods of high growth.

McNie was recognized for his many years of service at a Dec. 18 City Council meeting. “I’d like to thank the City Council and the City Manager for the opportunity to serve in my capacity,” he said from the dais. “I’ve enjoyed every minute of it and I feel privileged to be part of the team here.” The Mayor and each Councilmember took time to thank McNie personally for his dedicated efforts over the years serving Menifee, and wish him well in his retirement.  McNie plans to enter his retirement with his wife Jacque of over 30 years, his two grown children, and granddaughter, following his favorite soccer team.
