Menifee Housing Programs

These programs are largely Countywide and available to our residents.  The City of Menifee monitors the various programs to keep you informed of their availability and your eligibility.

Qualified Menifee homebuyers are eligible for a First-Time Homebuyer Program through the County of Riverside EDA, as well as assistance through the California Housing Finance Agency’s First-Time Homebuyer Program.  Additionally, the County offers a Mortgage Credit Certificate Program to eligible Menifee homebuyers.  Through the Mortgage Credit Certificate Program, qualified low-income homebuyers can receive a federal income tax credit equal to 15 percent of the interest paid on their primary mortgage—the remaining 85% of the interest can be taken by the homebuyer as a tax deduction. Home Rehabilitation Programs
Qualified Menifee homeowners are eligible for the EDA Home Repair Program through the County of Riverside EDA, as well as the EDA Home Rehabilitation Program.  The Home Repair Program offers qualified Menifee homeowners up to $6,000 in grant funding for eligible home repairs, whereas the Home Rehabilitation Program offers up to $20,000 for eligible home repairs.

Federal Housing Tax Credit
The Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009 have extended the tax credit of up to $8,000 for qualified first-time home buyers purchasing a principal residence. The tax credit now applies to sales occurring on or after January 1, 2009 and on or before April 30, 2010. However, in cases where a binding sales contract is signed by April 30, 2010, a home purchase completed by June 30, 2010 will qualify. For sales occurring after November 6, 2009, the Act establishes income limits of $125,000 for single taxpayers and $225,000 for married couples filing joint returns.

The income limits for sales occurring on or after January 1, 2009 and on or before November 6, 2009, are $75,000 for single taxpayers and $150,000 for married taxpayers filing joint returns.
