THE RIVERSIDE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES IN MENIFEE UNTIL THE NEW POLICE DEPARTMENT TAKES OVER ON UNTIL JULY 1, 2020
On November 7, 2018, the Menifee City Council unanimously approved Resolution No. 18-739 authorizing and directing the City manager to begin the formation of a municipal (city) police department. The council’s action followed years of careful consideration, an exhaustive feasibility study and robust dialog and feedback from the general public. To view the feasibility study, click here.
In December 2018, former police Chief Dave Brown was added to the city’s executive team. As Interim Director of Public Safety, Brown will begin the process of acquiring the necessary facilities, equipment and infrastructure to ensure a successful transition from Sheriff’s Department Contract Services to the Menifee Police Department. On April 2, 2019, following an exhaustive nationwide search, City Manager Armando Villa announced the appointment of Chief Pat Walsh as Menifee’s first Chief of Police. Chief Walsh comes to Menifee with nearly 35 years of law enforcement experience and leadership including service with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Portland Police Bureau and Lompoc Police Department.
