Collection day tips to remember

What are the Current Rates for residential and/or commercial service?

Are there special services for disabled persons?
Yes! Menifee customers receive valet service free of charge for disabled persons. Contact WM for details or to sign-up.

Is there a Senior Rate?
Yes! Seniors age 60 or better and who are head of household (name on bill) are eligible to reduce their cart size and save 9% off the monthly bill. Contact WM for details or to sign-up. 

How do I sort my household waste?
Every residential account receives three 96-gallon carts. Visit our resources for residents page for details of what goes where.

What day will my trash be collected?
Residential monthly service includes weekly pickups of all cans. Enter your address into our recycle wizard to find details for your area.

What is the holiday schedule for collection?
Holiday falls on a weekday - collection will be delayed 1 day for the remainder of the week.
Holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday - there will be no delay for collection

Can I self-haul residential waste?
Self-hauler application can be requested by emailing If approved for residential self-haul permit, permittee is responsible for reporting diversion quarterly in addition to annual renewal of permit.

Can I be charged for putting items in the incorrect cart?
Yes, contamination fees may be charged and/or service skipped. 

Can I put food scraps in my green waste bin?
Beginning 2022, food waste will be collected in the green waste (organics) bin. 

How many bulky item pickups do I receive free of charge?
Menifee residential accounts are entitled to four free bulky item pick-ups each year, just call WM to schedule.
The City of Menifee, in partnership with Waste Management, also offers bulky item collection events each year. There is one collection site per Council district and events are typically held on the fourth Saturday of April and September.

Where can I take used oil, old batteries, or other non-disposable items?

What items DO NOT belong in trash bins?
Please contact Waste Management to schedule collection of used oil, medical sharps

Christmas Tree Pick-up
Christmas tree recycling is free of charge for two weeks following December 26 and does not count as one of your 4 bulky items pickups. Just sit your tree out on the curb and it will be collected on your scheduled service day. 

When are shredding events held?
The City hosts free shred events twice a year, this event is scheduled through the City Clerks Office

What are collection and recycling requirements for businesses?
All businesses are required to set-up service for trash, recycling, and organics. Please visit our Resources for Business page for info.
