Funding for Bradley Road Bridge Secured by Rep. Calvert
Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) highlighted the inclusion of $5 million for the Bradley Road Bridge construction project in the Fiscal Year 2022 Appropriations bill. Rep. Calvert voted along with a bipartisan majority of the House of Representatives to approve the bill on Wednesday, March 9th.

The City of Menifee announced an online survey to identify transportation needs. The survey can be taken at www.cityofmenifee.us/mobilitysurvey and will be available through December 31. This survey is part of an effort, sponsored by the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), to improve mobility for residents, including persons with disabilities and older adults.

Second Quarter Sales Tax Returns in City Signals Continued Pandemic Recovery and Heightened Retail
As the Southern California region continues to emerge from the pandemic and the fiscal effects of its economic impacts, the City of Menifee saw continued gains with its second quarter sales tax returns, experiencing a 43.6% growth from April to June 2021 (excluding aberrations), compared to the same quarter in 2020 (which was the most adversely impact sales tax period related to the pandemic).

Menifee Redistricting Process Underway
Redistricting, the process of redrawing district lines based on new census data,
has begun in the City of Menifee. A dedicated redistricting website is live, and the City is asking the public to participate by attending a workshop, submitting a public comment form, or submitting their own draft map for consideration.

Recent data released by the California State Auditor’s Office highlights through a transparent interface dashboard, rankings of cities in California by their overall fiscal health. The tool, launched in 2019, ranks more than 470 California cities based on detailed information about their fiscal health and whether a city is at risk for fiscal distress. The City of Menifee is excited to announce the addition of Sharetea as the latest tenant joining Newport Towne Square off of Newport Road. Established in 1992, Sharetea began in Taipei, Taiwan serving to-go black tea and pearl milk tea drinks. The City of Menifee will fully return to its in-person schedule beginning Monday, June 28, with facilities open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Virtual services will still be available to provide businesses and residents options for how they do business with the City. City of Menifee Independence Celebration to Take Place at MSJC and Wheatfield Park
The City of Menifee is excited to announce additional activities for this year’s Independence Celebration, which takes place on Saturday, June 26. Originally set to be a drive-in style viewing with food trucks and activities at Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC), there will now be a viewing area at Wheatfield Park. The Wheatfield Park site will also have food and craft vendors thanks to the Lake Menifee Women’s Club and a Fun Zone featuring nine inflatable jumpers, slides, obstacle courses, and more! Parking for the fireworks display and the opening of the Fun Zone both begin at 5 p.m.

The City of Menifee is excited to introduce the organization’s first Chief Information Officer, Ron Puccinelli. Ron recently joined the City’s executive team to oversee and direct the expansive technology operations of citywide information systems and services. This new role is essential to implement Menifee’s smart city initiative and to prevent and fight against cyber-security attack issues that are plaguing many agencies across the nation. City of Menifee Receives Rebate of More Than $500,000 Thanks to Regional Streetlight Program
Menifee is saving energy and saving money—all while shining brighter—thanks to a regional streetlight program partnership. The joint effort by the Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG), the City of Menifee, and Southern California Edison (SCE) led to approximately 6,500 streetlights within Menifee being purchased and retrofitted to LED technology between March and June 2020.

City of Menifee Proclaims April Distracted Driving Awareness Month and Launches Just Drive Pledge
Between 2012 and 2019, more than 26,000 people in the United States lost their lives in distracted driving collisions. Menifee Police Department and the City of Menifee don’t want Menifee residents to add to that statistic and at the April 7, 2021 City Council meeting, April was proclaimed Distracted Driving Awareness Month in Menifee. At the meeting, Police Department Traffic Sergeant Matthew Bloch and City of Menifee Public Information Officer Dominique Samario gave a presentation regarding the City’s proclamation to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.

City of Menifee Reopens for In-Person Services While Continuing Innovative Virtual Services
The City of Menifee will reopen for in-person service beginning Monday, April 12 with a modified schedule, while continuing to provide their innovative virtual services. The City’s reopening plan aligned with the State and County tier structure. With Riverside County now in the Orange Tier, COVID-19 cases steadily declining, and vaccination rates increasing, in-person City services will once again take place at City Hall, Community Services Department administrative offices, and the Menifee Police Department lobby.

Letter from Menifee Mayor Regarding COVID-19 Vaccinations for Seniors
The City of Menifee is working closely with County Public Health during the COVID-19 vaccine distribution process. While vaccine distribution is led by the County of Riverside, City staff and elected officials are advocating for Menifee residents, particularly our senior population, to have convenient and safe access to vaccinations if they would like to receive them. Menifee Mayor Bill Zimmerman submitted the linked letter to County Public Health Director Kim Saruwatari after attending a regional Mayor’s Coalition meeting.
