Menifee Seeks Community Input on Active Transportation Plan

9-26 Comm Input

Menifee, CA– The City of Menifee is in the process of creating an Active Transportation Plan (ATP) in an effort to meet the City Council’s goals and vision for providing a transportation system that supports walking, cycling, public transit and automobiles. To garner public input, a website has been created for the project with a survey and even an interactive map that will allow residents to plot specific points in the City and provide comments on how to improve transit in those areas.   “Creating and maintaining an organized, safe and efficient transit system is one of the core tenets of sustainable city planning strategy,” said District 4 Councilmember Dean Deines. “With the vision being set by Council and City leadership, the stage is set to ensure that this remains a priority as Menifee continues to grow.”   As part of the plan development, the ATP project team will be hosting “popup” events and attending community meetings to provide opportunities for residents to provide input. One such event will be held at the Fall Festival on Oct. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Mt. San Jacinto College. Community members will have a chance to fill out the project survey and provide comments on maps provided by the project team.   “Community input is a crucial piece to the development of a complete ATP,” said City Engineer, Jonathan Smith. “From parents with young kids who walk or bike to school, to commuters, public transit riders, bikers and hikers, we want to hear from everyone so that we can incorporate a multitude of perspectives into the plan.”  To learn more, please visit the Active Transportation Plan website or contact the ATP Project Manager at cgeronimo@cityofmenifee.us.
